hello, slc cheerleaders!

WELCOME TO THE 2009 SLC CHEER SEASON!

We are excited to see so many returning cheerleaders and we wish to extend a special welcome to our new incoming cheerleaders!

4TH OF JULY PARADE

Thanks to all of the parents who volunteered to help at the parade!

CHEERLEADERS...

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE IN THE PARADE

Here is important information that you will need to know:

THINGS TO BRING:

--LOTS OF SPIRIT!!!!
--The theme is "Christmas in July" so have fun with this...Santa hats, etc.
--A BAG OF CANDY to throw out
--A BOTTLE OF WATER to drink.
--WEAR CAMP WEAR OR ANYTHING COMETS

We would like the girls to be dropped off at a location outside of Intermatic (near the ACTown business located on Highview) between 10:30 and 11:30 on Saturday, July 4th.  Please check the website before Friday in the event that location were to change.   Parade line-up begins at 10:30 at Intermatic. The parade begins at 12:00.  There will be SLC parent volunteers at that outside location to escort the girls over to Intermatic.  If you are dropping your daughter off after 11:30, we ask that you please walk her over to the Intermatic parking lot where we will be lining up.

The parade goes from Intermatic (N) to Main (E) to Richardson (N) to Horse Fair Park.  Thanks to our SLC parents, we will have a truck and trailer, however most-likely not all of the cheerleaders will be able to ride, so the older cheerleaders will probably be walking along with the parent volunteers.   Please pick up your daughter promptly at the end of the parade near the swings behind Spring Grove School.

Hope to see you there!

SQUAD PLACEMENT

It is sometimes necessary to move cheerleaders up one level if there is a high enrollment number on  a particular squad to even out squads so that we can adhere to the IRCA squad size rules for competition and to make the squads manageable.  When this happens, cheerleaders are moved up first by their grade level, then seniority and finally if necessary, by pulling of names.

This season 7th graders and 4th graders were affected by this decision.  Therefore, the 7th graders and 4th graders were placed accordingly until the squads were evened out. The placement of cheerleaders on either squad is not based on skill or ability.
